Speaker: Colleen Campbell, MD, Director of Genetic Counseling Operations, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Genetic testing is rapidly evolving with 14 genetic tests launched each day in the United States. This talk will help providers better understand the current state of genetic testing, including direct-to-consumer testing.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand the current state of genetic testing and how it will impact the health of our citizenry.
  2. Be able to describe pros can cons of direct-to-consumer testing.
  3. Explore and discuss ethical, legal and social implications inherent in genetic testing.

Intended Audience: Physicians, advance practice professionals, nurses, ancillary staff, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), healthcare administrators
