Every family’s journey through pregnancy is unique—filled with hopes, dreams, and sometimes, unexpected heartbreak.

The video shares the emotional journey of Darci and Ryan, who were expecting their third child, Jack. At 20 weeks, they learned Jack had Down syndrome, and by 28 weeks, he developed complications and passed away in utero. Darci chose to deliver at Birthways at Mary Greeley Medical Center, where her colleagues supported her through this difficult time. The story highlights the compassionate care provided by the hospital staff and the importance of honoring Jack’s memory, which inspired the creation of a bereavement room and other supportive resources.

Understanding Stillbirth and Infant Loss

Losing a child at any stage is a devastating experience that no parent should face alone. The grief can feel isolating, and families often struggle to find the right support. In the United States, 1 in 175 pregnancies ends in stillbirth, a loss that occurs at 20 weeks or later. Each of these losses represents a cherished life, a family’s dreams, and countless unspoken words.
