REG Steps Up in Support of Families
Renewable Energy Group (REG) takes its role as a corporate citizen seriously. And when its philanthropy committee – made up of staff members from across the organization – learned of the new Family Care Center at Mary Greeley Medical Center, it jumped at the opportunity to make a gift.
“We are always looking for ways to engage with our community and make the world a better place,” says committee member Kristin Dillavou. “We focus our philanthropy in three areas: the environment, health and youth. This checked two of those boxes.”
The REG pledge of $100,000 to the project is among one of the organization’s largest single gifts ever. Dillavou says the REG senior leadership team didn’t hesitate when the committee presented the recommendation.
“There was no pushback at all,” she says. “It aligns so well with our values and what we are trying to accomplish in our community. As a company, we are very proud to play a role in a project that is going to touch so many families.”
As a new mother, the project – and REG’s support of it – also touches Dillavou personally.
“My experience was thankfully free of complications, but at one point my son, Charlie, did need to have some tests run in the ICU,” Dillavou says. “So when this opportunity, with the new approach of in-room specialized care came to us, it really resonated. This will be a game-changer for families.”
“Knowing that I may utilize these services in the future and to know that my company played a role in making it happen makes me proud,” Dillavou continues. “I’m grateful to work for an organization that places such value on the health of children, women and families in the community.”
