Professional Practice Gaps

  1. There exists a gap in our understanding of the long-term risks of Bk nephritis. Surveillance of patients who develop graft failure in the appropriate clinical setting is recommended with new data.
  2. There is a lack of data and understanding on the right approach to immunosuppression management after graft failure.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize short term complications of BK nephritis.
  2. Understand the carcinogenic potential of BK virus in transplant patients.
  3. Recognize the drawback of immunosuppression withdrawal in patients who are candidates for a second transplant.
