Professional Practice Gaps

A study published in the Annals of Health Law (2014) showed 87.8% of survivors of Human Trafficking saw a medical professional during their time in captivity and no one helped them. Mercy Medical Center discovered they have people victimized by Human Trafficking as clients, and did not have an adequate method/protocol to identify or assist them.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Define Human Trafficking and the various types.
  2. Describe the signs and symptoms of a trafficking victim, and what to do.
  3. Review cases through Mercy’s Anti-Human Trafficking Program.

Target audience:

Physicians, advance practice professionals, nurses, ancillary staff, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), health care administrators
