The High Five program provides a way for Mary Greeley employees to recognize the colleagues for doing small but helpful acts that might otherwise go unnoticed. Any employee can grab a High Five card and fill it out for another employee. It’s an extra way to say “Thanks.”

R.E.A.P. – Rewards for Employee Achievement Program

REAP - Rewards for Employee Achievement Program LogoMary Greeley encourages personal and professional development of all staff. R.E.A.P recognizes and offers incentive to staff who seek a higher level of professional and personal development in his/her position, above and beyond the expectations of their job and position requirements, and that contributes to the ongoing success of the hospital. Management is excluded from participating in this program.

R.E.A.P. is based on a predetermined set of achievement activities. Each achievement has a specific point value associated with it, and points are accumulated and tallied at the end of each fiscal year. Based on the number of points, employees are eligible for various levels of cash incentives.

Honor caregivers by making a gift in honor of a Mary Greeley employee, physician or volunteer who went beyond your expectations.

Each staff member, physician and volunteer honored by a grateful patient of family members will receive:

  • Recognition at a special “Beyond Expectations” ceremony
  • A lapel pin to wear proudly
  • Your personal note recognizing their great care

Quarterly employee appreciation meals are available to all staff. 

We honor employees who have achieved milestone years of service for their dedication to Mary Greeley at a special recognition dinner. 

100 Great Nurses

Each year, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program asks for patients, coworkers, friends, and family members to nominate an outstanding nurse for recognition. After undergoing a two-part review process, 100 Great Iowa Nurses are honored each year at a ceremony created for the state of Iowa by nurse and community leaders.

Mary Greeley's 2018 100 Great Nurses

We are proud to announce that two Mary Greeley Medical Center nurses are among this year’s 100 Great Iowa Nurses.

Mary Greeley’s honorees are Angela Long and Stacy Peterson. Both were nominated by their medical center colleagues.

Peterson, BSN, RN, RNC-OB, is a clinical supervisor on Mary Greeley’s Birthways unit and has worked at the medical center for nearly seven years. In her nomination, she was described as a “dedicated, well-respected nurse who continues to look for ways to improve her knowledge base and to be the best nurse and supervisor she can be.” She was also described as “a patient advocate and mentor to new employees. She is living her dream as a labor/delivery nurse. When you think about nursing and why a nurses job is so important, Stacy is the nurse you picture in your mind and the one you want caring for you and your family. Stacy has cared for hundreds of patients in her time with MGMC. Even caring for patients for the second, third and fourth time they are delivering a baby.”

Long, BSN, RN, CBCN, CNBN, has been with Mary Greeley for 24 years and is currently a cancer navigator in Mary Greeley’s Cancer Resource Center. In this role, she provides vital support for breast cancer patients and their families. In her nomination, she was praised for developing and expanding programs for cancer patients, including Courage in Motion, an exercise group for patients with cancer, and Plan not to Tan, a prevention program aimed at high school students. The nomination also noted that, “Angela is so good to her patients. She listens and gets to know her patients to help understand what their needs are and to anticipate future needs. She searches for resources and services that help her patients cope with their diagnosis and treatments. The oncologists, oncology nurses and surgeons respect her and depend on her to help their breast cancer patients.”
