If you or a loved one is experiencing pain during recovery or because of a chronic illness, aquatic therapy available at Mary Greeley Medical Center may offer help, and welcome relief.
Aquatic Physical Therapy at Mary Greeley Medical Center
The premise behind aquatic therapy is relatively simple: Some people cannot tolerate exercise on land. Giving them workouts to do in the water trades buoyancy for gravity, relieving pressure and impact on joints and enabling them to focus on building and improving strength, range of motion, posture, and balance.
At Mary Greeley Medical Center, aquatic physic therapy takes place in the warm water therapy pool in the lower level of the Medical Arts Building. There, therapists offer one-on-one direction and support on strength, stretching, posture, and body mechanics. With a punch card, patients can also use the pool independently for exercise after physical therapy, or join classes such as Joints in Motion or Moms in Motion. In addition, aquatic physical therapy is typically billed through Medicare or your insurance company (for details, check with your insurance provider).
"The pool does wonders for me,
it really does." - Kathryn Price
