Cory Geffre Named VP And Chief Nursing Officer At Mary Greeley Medical Center

As vice president and CNO, Geffre will be a member of Mary Greeley’s senior management team and will oversee the medical center’s inpatient and outpatient nursing services.

AMES, IA – Cory Geffre has been named vice president and chief nursing officer (CNO) at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Geffre will begin his new duties in January 2019. He has served as vice president and CNO at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, S.D., since 2016.

As vice president and CNO, Geffre will be a member of Mary Greeley’s senior management team and will oversee the medical center’s inpatient and outpatient nursing services, including Cancer Services, Cardiology Services, Behavioral Health, Birthways, Emergency Department, Pharmacy, and Home Health and Hospice.

“We are thrilled to have Cory Geffre join the Mary Greeley team,” said Brian Dieter, president and CEO. “His strong commitment to quality patient care and experience in managing outpatient and inpatient services make him an ideal person to lead Mary Greeley’s outstanding nursing staff.”

At Avera St. Luke’s, Geffre has been responsible for clinical quality, operations and management for a variety of inpatient and outpatient units, including psychiatric services, surgical services, cardiology services and emergency. Avera St. Luke’s is a 99-bed facility and has several physician offices. Geffre has responsibility for 53 departments with more than 500 employees and 60 providers. He has a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a master of science in management, strategy and leadership from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

“I am honored to be chosen as Mary Greeley’s next Chief Nursing Officer. I am excited to keep working on the great things already happening as well as help Mary Greeley continue to adapt to the changing healthcare environment,” Geffre said.

Geffre has been active in a variety of organizations, including the Aberdeen BMX, Aberdeen Downtown Association, Aberdeen Soccer Association, and United Way. Geffre and his wife Tammi have three children who are active in a variety of sports.

He succeeds Neal Loes, who is retiring in December. Loes has 35 years of service at Mary Greeley, including 29 years as vice president and CNO.
