Mary Greeley Rehab and Wellness Hosts Runners Workshop

Ames, Iowa—On Saturday, March 2nd, Mary Greeley will host its 2nd Annual Runners Workshop. Slated to run from 8:00-11:00 a.m., the event will feature four different informational sessions and participants will have the opportunity to try out the AlterG®—an anti-gravity treadmill, which offers a revolutionary approach to rehabilitation and training by allowing its users to defy gravity.

The Runners Workshop will take place in the Mary Greeley Rehab and Wellness offices located in the lower level of the Medical Arts Building at 1015 Duff Avenue in Ames.  

Schedule of Events:

8:00-8:45 a.m. – Running & Triathlon, the Essentials:  Bill “Guru of Shoe” Lorenz discusses running assessments to determine proper footwear

8:45-9:15 a.m. – Nutrition & Athletic Performance:  Sarah Haveman, RD, LD, CDE talks about runners energy and hydration needs before, during and after running

9:15-10:00 a.m. – Top 10 Exercises Runners Should Do:  Anne Hilleman, PT, DPT, a physical therapist and avid runner reviews the best exercises for runners

10:00-11:00 a.m. – AlterG – The Benefits of Gravity Reduced Training and Rehabilitation:  Matt Petersen, PT, MPT, MPA discusses the benefits of the AlterG treadmill. Bring your running shoes for free trials!
