Mary Greeley Medical Center Board Recognizes Mary Kitchell;
New Trustee Appointment Announced
AMES, Iowa — The Mary Greeley Medical Center Board of Trustees recently honored Mary Kitchell for her 25 years of service on the Board and more than 45 years of leadership in community health care.
A long-time Ames resident, Kitchell has played a pivotal role in advancing access to care locally and statewide, including co-founding the Ames Free Medical Clinic, serving as its administrator for 16 years, and helping establish a Federally Qualified Health Center in Ames. She has also held numerous leadership and volunteer roles at Mary Greeley Medical Center and has been widely recognized for excellence in health care governance and community service.
“Mary Kitchell’s legacy is defined not only by visionary leadership and governance excellence, but by humility, compassion, and service,” said Ken McCuskey, Board Chair. “Her influence will continue to guide our work for years to come.”
Following Kitchell’s resignation from the Board, which was effective April 1, 2026, the Board approved the appointment of Paul Hudson to fill the remainder of her term, which expires Jan. 1, 2030. Hudson is a former Mary Greeley employee and retired health care executive with extensive experience in emergency medical services and hospital operations.
