ANNUAL GEORGE HEGSTROM SYMPOSIUM A SUCCESS
AMES, IA – Despite the snowy weather, over 100 people recently attending the Annual George Hegstrom Symposium at Mary Greeley Medical Center.
James Painter, PhD, an expert on food psychology and nutrition from the University of Texas – Houston School of Public Health, presented the program. He gave two lectures, Current Issues: Fats in Vogue, Wheat Woes, Uh-Oh GMOs and Food Psychology: Why We Eat More Than We Think.
Participants of the symposium had this to say:
“The speaker was very informative. He gave some valuable updates on the current views of diet and nutrition. The information will be useful!” – Neil Calhoun.
“It was the first symposium I have attended. Nice event! Very informative.” – Cathy Wright
“Loved the presentation. With all the advertising and things you see in the media it is hard to sort through what we should eat. Liked hearing the experts opinion on the low fat diets and it confirmed for me that some fats are good and the sugar is really what we need to limit. This will benefit me in my personal life and also my patients in the cathlab department. Thanks for hosting.” – Cheryl Pietz
“Very interesting presentation. He was entertaining too. I thought he covered a lot of material.” – Kathy Ridnour
