Motivational Speaker and Chef Highlight Mary Greeley Symposium April 9

AMES, IA – A motivational speaker and a chef with diabetes will highlight the 2016 George Hegstrom Annual Symposium, which is presented by Mary Greeley Medical Center’s Diabetes and Nutrition Education Center.

The Hegstrom Symposium will be Saturday, April 9, from 8 to noon in the Ames City Auditorium, 520 6th St. Admission is free.

Brenda Clark Hamilton will be the keynote speaker. Her talk is titled “I Dare You … To Create Positive Changes in Your Life.” A dynamic speaker, she will provide perspectives on leadership, communication, team-building and bringing your personal best to your life and career.

Chef Robert Lewis, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will show how turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary during an interactive cooking demonstration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, Lewis was motivated to create delicious, easy dishes for a healthy diet.

The symposium will feature exhibits by various vendors.
