Family History of Twins

Since the word of the twins has traveled, we are asked regularly the same questions.

The most common being, “Do twins run in your family?”  Yes, they run in mine.  My dad has an identical twin, Dennis.  I once read a study that said if identical boys had daughters, whoever’s daughter was oldest, had the greatest chance of having twins.  That would be me.  I don’t know if there is any truth to this study.  It was from the 1990’s, and studies seem to always change or prove each other wrong.  However, I have proved this study right.

My dad and his twin are the oldest of five boys.  Their youngest brother also had a set of fraternal twins.  According to the internet, (and the internet doesn’t lie), Taylor & Tessa will have a greater chance of having twins since they have twin siblings.

I also have a second cousin on my mom’s side, Lisa that has fraternal twins.  I don’t know if this is too far out to be considered “running in the family”, but it pads the twin count on my side!

We’re not aware of twins on Ryan’s side that are closely related to him.  Most likely they are farther out on the family tree branches.  Hence why he says this is my doing!
