Surgical Unit
Providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients can recover from surgery is the goal of the Mary Greeley Medical Center Surgical Unit.
In the unit, patients recover from surgery and receive any post-surgical therapy, if needed.
The unit includes 43 private rooms, staffed by registered nurses skilled in acute care, including pain management, wound care and the prevention of post-operative complications. Nurses spend time with patients and families to educate them about their surgery and what to expect as they recover.
Our staff uses a team approach, coordinating with physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, social workers and other specialists as needed. Before patients are discharged-usually after about four days-our staff makes sure they have everything needed for a full recovery. This may involve coordinating with HOMEWARD Home Medical Equipment, HOMEWARD Home Health Services and other healthcare professionals.
