Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves to produce a moving picture of the heart on a video screen. Using these images, we can see the heart's thickness, size and function, as well as the motion pattern and structure of the heart's four valves. Physicians use this information to detect heart abnormalities.

State-of-the-Art Technology

At Mary Greeley Medical Center, our recently remodeled Echocardiogram Laboratory, or Echo Lab, is truly state-of-the-art. We use new, improved echo technology. Only a few hospitals in the state have this technology. Our new equipment produces very high-quality digital images, which are sent to a digital network and then interpreted by a cardiologist.
