Cancer Registry

The Cancer Registry at Mary Greeley Medical Center is responsible for collecting data on patients who are diagnosed or treated at the William R. Bliss Cancer Center. 

The cancer registry is a valuable resource used by doctors and other health care professionals to inform them of incidence, trends, treatments, and survival. All information is confidential and reported to two organizations: 

• The State Health Registry of Iowa, a member of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program
• The National Cancer Database, which is used to generate national cancer statistics and help develop quality improvements in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. All hospitals in Iowa submit data to the national database.
