Adult Inpatient Unit

The Mary Greeley Medical Center Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is for adults age 18 or older who require 24-hour nursing care in a secure, therapeutic environment. This 12-bed, self-contained unit is located in the medical center.

This unit serves adults who have:

  • Engaged in behavior that is destructive or potentially destructive to themselves or others.
  • Symptoms that are severe enough that they cannot be addressed at a lower level of care.

Our Staff

Our team of professionals provides crisis intervention, stabilization, evaluation and referral or transition to lower levels of care. Only a staff psychiatrist may admit a patient to the Behavioral Health Unit. However, patients may be referred by family members, physicians, mental health professionals, school personnel, community agencies and other mental health facilities.

Our clinical supervisor coordinates inpatient admissions. To contact the supervisor, call 515-239-2682. After working hours and on weekends or holidays, admissions are coordinated through the Emergency Department of the hospital.
