Mary Greeley Chaplains

Mary Greeley Medical Center Chaplains
Henrietta Klarenbeek and Katherine Werner

At Mary Greeley Medical Center, we understand that healing involves the whole person–body, mind and spirit. For this reason, we offer chaplaincy services to patients and their loved ones. If you need someone to talk to or a person to pray with you, let chaplaincy services help.

Chaplains are on duty 24 hours a day at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Sometimes they simply offer the ministry of presence—the comfort and support that comes from sitting with someone who listens. At other times they are a source of strength for people struggling with spiritual concerns. They also respond to requests for music ministry or chapel services.

You may contact chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek at (515) 239-6862 and chaplain Katherine Werner at (515) 239-2502. They visit with people in their hospital rooms, and they visit HOMEWARD Hospice  patients, either in their homes or at the Israel Family Hospice House. Chaplain visits may be arranged during office hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You may also get in touch with a chaplain by asking any nurse who is caring for you. At your request a chaplain will also contact your own minister, rabbi or other spiritual care practitioner. Chaplains are on-call and respond to after-hour needs.

The Interfaith Chapel

Interfaith ChapelMary Greeley Medical Center has an interfaith chapel located on the second floor of the medical center next to the Intensive and Coronary Care Unit (ICCU). The chapel is open 24 hours a day for those who need some quiet time for reflection or prayer. We hope the chapel can serve your particular needs. The chapel is an interfaith space, open to the diverse faiths and cultures of those who come to Mary Greeley Medical Center.

A variety of Care Note reading materials are available in the chapel. Please feel free to stop by and pick up brochures at any time. Care Notes may also be found on patient care floors.
