Mary Greeley Medical Center Receives Patient Care Excellence Award
Mary Greeley Medical Center will receive an “Excellence in Patient Care” award from Studer Group, a healthcare performance improvement firm that works with hospitals across the country.
Mary Greeley will receive the award at Studer Group’s 12th annual “What’s Right in Health Care” conference in August.
Excellence in Patient Care awards are given to select organizations that are coached by Studer Group. To be eligible for an award, an organization must demonstrate outstanding performance in patient care. Mary Greeley Medical Center was selected based on its Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) total performance score for the period covering the third quarter of 2012 through the second quarter of 2013.
As part of its VBP program, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) annually score hospitals on the basis of several key quality measures, including clinical process of care and patient experience. Hospitals can be penalized or receive bonuses based on their VBP performance. For two years, Mary Greeley has received the highest percentage bonus of any hospital in the state. Mary Greeley is among the country’s top 20 highest scoring hospitals, and the only Iowa hospital in the top 20.
“Studer Group is a leader in healthcare improvement and working with them has provided many benefits for our patients,” says Brian Dieter, president and CEO of Mary Greeley. “To be recognized like this by Studer Group says a lot about the quality of care that patients can expect from Mary Greeley.”
