Mary Greeley Medical Center Celebrates Certified Nurses Day March 19 by Honoring 102 Board Certified Nurses

Ames, Iowa – Mary Greeley Medical Center is celebrating Certified Nurses Day on March 19 by honoring board certified nurses. This year, 102 nurses are being recognized for their professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence in patient care.

“Certification is a formal recognition of the specialized knowledge and skills demonstrated by the achievement of standards identified by a nursing specialty to promote optimal health outcomes,” states Neal Loes, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., vice president of the medical center. “Through certification nurses demonstrate their commitment to their professional development and to the patients they serve.”

Board Certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in the assurance of high standards of care for patients and their loved ones. Nursing, like health care in general, has become increasingly complex. While a registered nurse (R.N.) license provides entry to general nursing practice, the knowledge-intensive requirements of modern nursing require extensive education as well as a strong personal commitment to excellence by the nurse.

Mary Greeley Medical Center encourages national board certification for all its nurses. The Nursing Certification Program covers the cost for the certification examination and is supported in part by gifts made to the Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation.

Please join Mary Greeley Medical Center and the nation’s national nursing certification organizations in honoring those hardworking, dedicated nurses for their professionalism and a job well done!
