We focus on the safety and comfort of our patients. Our outpatient surgical unit offers 48 private rooms for patient and families. Our surgical inpatient unit has 54 private rooms on the third floor of our west patient tower that opened in spring 2014. Each room offers a spacious and quiet healing environment. Care is provided by nurses trained in acute care, pain management, wound care, and post-operation complication prevention. Working with you and your loved ones, nurses serve as a resource for questions and education about your surgery.

Expert Care, Advanced Technology

Surgeons from a variety of specialties practice at Mary Greeley Medical Center, and are skilled in both traditional and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Our surgeons and their experienced teams of nurses and anesthesiologists perform more than 10,000 procedures each year. We have 12 surgical suites, including one used for da Vinci® robot-assisted surgery. These suites are complemented by a nine-bed post-surgical area.  Our surgical program is also supported by a highly trained Sterile Processing Department team, which cleans, packs and sterilizes all operating room supplies.

In addition, the surgery team coordinates care with other specialties, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, and social workers.

Mary Greeley’s Surgery Services has an excellent record of successful outcomes. For example, we have received Blue Distinction Center Plus (+) in the areas of spine surgery, knee and hip replacement by Wellmark® Blue Cross® and Blue Shield®. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded for medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety as well as new cost-efficiency measures.

What to Expect

Once your physician schedules you for surgery at Mary Greeley Medical Center, you will receive detailed instructions on how to prepare. When you arrive, Mary Greeley Medical Center registered nurses will check you in, answer any questions and make sure you are properly prepared for your procedure. Your recovery time will vary based on the anesthesia.  If you have any other questions about your preparation, your procedure or any other concerns, please contact your doctor’s office. If you must cancel or reschedule your procedure, please call at least 24-36 hours in advance.
