Kentucky Derby event benefits William R. Bliss Cancer Center

Almost 300 people enjoyed a night of bidding, big hats and blackjack on Saturday, May 7, as Mary Greeley Medical Center hosted its annual benefit supporting the William R. Bliss Cancer Center.

The Gateway Hotel and Conference Center was transformed into Churchill Downs for this year’s event, which featured a live viewing of the Kentucky Derby. Throughout the evening attendees enjoyed bidding on silent and live auction packages, playing blackjack, plinko, poker and more, all to support cancer care and treatment.

The event raised an incredible $250,000 in funding and in-kind support for the William R. Bliss Cancer Center. An event like this wouldn’t happen without all the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers.  Along with volunteers from the community, MGMC Auxiliary and MGMC Foundation, many individuals within several departments at MGMC were integral in making this event a success. Thank you to everyone for supporting the William R. Bliss Cancer Center, and if you missed this year’s event we hope to see you in 2012!
