This will address the ways that health professionals can encourage patients to take some simple steps to improve their health and the health of the community.

Description

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1)    Understand the basis for the Blue Zones Project in Iowa

2)    Understand the nine principles of the Blue Zones

3)    Learn how the Blue Zones principles will help improve health and longevity

Professional practice gap addressed: This will address the ways that health professionals can encourage patients to take some simple steps to improve their health and the health of the community.

Overall goal:  Use knowledge of the Blue Zones principles to change recommended advice for patients to change their behavior.

Target audience: Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, health care administrators

    Information about what to expect during the beginning days of breastfeeding will be discussed to help make breastfeeding a positive experience. Current information on breast feeding will be presented.
