A discussion on pneumonia in the health care setting and how to differentiate HCAP, HAP and VAP and the current treatments and techniques.

Description

At the conclusion of the activity, learners will be able to:

1)    Differentiate HCAP, HAP & VAP.

2)    Understand techniques for preventing HAP and VAP.

3)    Realize the pitfalls in diagnosing pneumonia that arises in the hospital.

4)    Acknowledge that shorter antibiotic duration for HAP/VAP may be beneficial to outcomes.

5)    Assess the utility of biomarkers (i.e., procalcitonin) to diagnose pneumonia as well as limit antibiotic duration.

Target audience: Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses

    An accelerated childbirth class for parents on the go. . Topics include: labor, delivery, breathing and relaxation tecniques, medications, epidurals, and medical procedures. This class does include a hospital Tour.
