Late in 2013, new national guidelines were released to guide management of cholesterol, obesity, and healthy lifestyle. Patients with established cardiovascular disease will be treated aggressively to prevent recurrent health issues. Treatment decisions in lower risk patients will be based on a new cardiovascular risk "calculator". We will discuss what these new guidelines mean for each of us.
