Description

At the conclusion of the activity, learners will be able to:

1)    Understand the principle of "double effect"

2)    Apply the principle to palliative sedation

3)    Understand the moral difference of withdrawing treatment and killing

Professional practice gap to be addressed: There is confusion among providers in recognizing the ethical differences of allowing to die versus causing death.

Target audience: Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses
