At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1)    understand current use of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine)/Integrative Medicine in the U.S.

2)    develop practical approach to assessing risks and benefits of various therapies

3)    incorporate evidence-based therapies into practice for patient (and personal) wellbeing

Professional practice gap to be addressed: Many patients fail to fully disclose their use of CAM therapies. Not knowing which therapies a patient is using can lead to adverse effects, especially in the case of patients using dietary supplements. Asking every patient about their use of CAM is an important part of the history for each patient.

Overall goal: Use of knowledge gained to impact practice, practical, everyday problems encountered by physicians.

Target audience: Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, health care administrators

    Information about what to expect during the beginning days of breastfeeding will be discussed to help make breastfeeding a positive experience. Current information on breast feeding will be presented.

  • 08/05/14 - Mallwalkers: My Healthy Plate

    Learn about managing portion sizes for healthy living. Make use of the “Plate Method” of meal planning to manage eating patterns at home and when eating out.
