This activity will address potential gaps in the diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases that could lead to suboptimal outcomes.

Description

At the conclusion of the activity, learners will be able to:

1)      Understand some key pearls regarding diagnosis and management of gout, including the utility of dual-energy CT scanning.

2)      Understand the paradigm of “treat-to-target” in managing rheumatoid arthritis and describe management issues that arise from this approach.

3)      Appreciate the broad differential diagnosis for polymyalgia rheumatic and how this should factor into the management approach for this syndrome.

4)      Understand current guidelines for prevention of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.

Professional practice gap to be addressed: This activity will address potential gaps in the diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases that could lead to suboptimal outcomes.
