This activity will help to provide primary care providers with support for identification of abnormal weight gain and obesity in pediatric patients, guidelines for appropriate screening for sequelae of obesity, and tools to begin to address both the obesity and the sequelae.

Description

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1)      Recognize that abnormal weight gain and obesity in the pediatric population causes current sequelae, tracks into adulthood, and contributes to chronic morbidity.

2)      Identify abnormal weight gain and obesity in pediatric patients.

3)      Screen for sequelae of obesity in pediatric patients

Professional practice gap to be addressed: This activity will help to provide primary care providers with support for identification of abnormal weight gain and obesity in pediatric patients, guidelines for appropriate screening for sequelae of obesity, and tools to begin to address both the obesity and the sequelae.

Target audience: Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses
