Youth Volunteers

Current Volunteer Openings  

Volunteering is a great way for youth to learn responsibility, give back to the community, and gain skills for future employment. Youth volunteers learn first hand what it is like to make a difference in the lives of our patients, visitors and staff.

Youth volunteer support areas include:

Valet Assistant

Work with valet staff to assist in customer service by answering phone requests, lining up tickets, and responding to customers.

Requirements
12 years old, or have completed 6th grade
Customer Service Oriented, ability to multi-task, good communication skills.
Completed youth application, and attend one orientation session with a parent/guardian.
Must complete TB testing and furnish immunization records.

Scheduling
Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.; 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.; 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. 

Commitment
Summer: minimum of four shifts

Information Desk

Working with an adult volunteer, you will be greeting patients, families, and visitors; escorting guests throughout the medical center; helping with registration; and much more!

Requirements
15 years old, or have completed 9th grade.
Customer Service Oriented, ability to multi-task, computer skills.
Completed youth application, interview required with a parent/guardian.
Must complete TB testing and furnish immunization records.

Scheduling
Weekends: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Weekdays (June- August): 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Commitment
Summer: one shift per week

Clerical Support

Learn valuable office skills while volunteering. Making copies, filing, stuffing envelopes, and making phone calls are just the beginning to this multifaceted assignment.

Requirements
15 years old, or have completed 9th grade.
Customer service oriented, computer skills preferred, willingness to learn.
Completed youth application, interview required with a parent/guardian.
Must furnish MMR immunization records.

Scheduling
Weekdays (summers only): 2-3 hours shifts between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Commitment
Summer: one shift per week

Gift Shop

Work with the Gift Shop staff and volunteers by providing excellent customer service, delivering flowers and cheer cards, answering the phone, restocking gifts and candy, cleaning display cases, and unpacking and pricing new stock.

Requirements
15 years old, or have completed 9th grade.
Customer service oriented, ability to multi-task, good communication skills.
Completed youth application, interview required with a parent/guardian.
Must complete TB testing and furnish immunization records.

Scheduling
Weekdays (June- August): 2 to 3 hour shift

Commitment
Summer: one shift per week
