Mass Clinic
Volunteers Needed
to Support County-wide Preparedness
HOMEWARD of Mary Greeley Medical
Center in collaboration with Story County Emergency Management is currently developing response plans
for management of local disasters. The disaster could be a food
borne outbreak, a pandemic flu, or the intentional release of a
biological weapon.
In the event that thousands of residents in Story
County would need to be vaccinated or receive antibiotics, mass clinics
would need to be organized throughout the county to accomplish such
a task.
HOMEWARD, which is
Story's County Public Health Agency, cannot sufficiently staff these clinics without the collaborative
help of volunteers like you. It is through your support that we would
be able to provide preventative medical treatment to your family, friends
and neighbors in the most efficient manner possible during a public
health emergency.
A few examples of volunteer opportunities at a mass clinic might include:
answering phones, assisting clients with registration forms, data entry, assisting with
setting up and taking down a clinic site, translation, or loading
/organizing supplies.
HOMEWARD is a member of the Story County Coalition for
Disaster Recovery (CDR). The CDR is officially registered as a Citizen Corps.
Other members of the CDR include the Volunteer Center of Story County, RSVP, Red
Cross, and United Way of Story County.
