Iowa Managed Medicaid Program Update

Iowa is moving toward a Managed Medicaid program and has chosen Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to provide services to Iowa’s Medicaid patients. This plan was to be implemented on January 1, 2016. However, CMS, the federal agency that oversees Medicare and Medicaid, has delayed implementation. CMS is proposing an implementation date of March 1, 2016, provided that the state and the MCO’s meet a list of requirements outlined by CMS.

In the meantime, Mary Greeley patients receiving Medicaid benefits will continue to receive services. We will continue to file claims as we do today and do everything we can to prevent Medicaid beneficiaries from getting caught in the middle of any administrative issues.

The State has directed the four MCOs to consider any current Medicaid hospital provider as "in-network" until at least April 1, 2016.

In preparation for eventual implementation of the plan, Mary Greeley is reviewing and negotiating contracts with the four MCOs. While there will likely be some confusion during the implementation, Mary Greeley is committed to making this process as smooth and efficient as possible for our patients.
